Someone stuck an American flag in our lawn during the early morning hours of July 4th. Not a full size one, of course. It was about 1 ft. x 2 ft. on a 2 ft. stick. I woke up on Independence Day and there it was down by the mailbox...and in everyone else's yard along the street. Someone was VERY busy in those wee morning hours.
I must admit it made me sort of proud to see that little flag waving out there. After I got over the initial knee-jerk reaction of, "How dare you put something in my yard without my permission!," of course. The street looked ready for a parade. Very kid-friendly and festive.
I thought someone might come by later to ask for a donation (because that's just the kind of cynical person I am), but no one's been by so far. Random act of kindness? Overzealous party decorator? Don't know. Don't care. I just like it.
Thanks for the flag, whoever you are.
